When it comes to accessibility, Singapore’s strategic location acts as a gateway for exploring various Southeast Asia countries, including Bangkok. Changi Airport, known for its excellent connectivity, serves as a convenient departure point. The flight duration from Singapore to Bangkok is approximately 2 hours, making it an ideal choice for a brief weekend getaway. Furthermore, the strong exchange rate of the Singapore Dollar (SGD) works in favor of travelers (SGD/THB – 26.08 @bloomberg, 23/6/2023), enabling them to enjoy favorable prices on accommodation, dining, and shopping during their visit.

Group Picture at Maeklong Railway Station

For the day tour to Maeklong and Damnoen Saduak, I chose KKDay as there was an interesting itinerary – a short local train ride from Maeklong Train Station to Lat Yai Train Station. Also, the drop-off point was at JODD FAIRS Night Market (Rama 9) where I would be able to try out the famous Leng Saap, a modern Thai dish that is made from simmered pork spine and a deliciously spicy pork bone soup with plenty of green bird’s eye chilis.

Spicy, sour, meaty, and tastes super yummy! The picture above isn’t the largest size, don’t be fooled, in fact, it’s the smallest size.

Address: Rama Ix Rd, Huai Khwang, Bangkok 10310 (Nearest Station is Phra Ram 9 MRT Station – Blue Line)

Jodd Fairs on Rama 9, which opened after Covid-19 in November 2022, became an instant favorite among tourists and locals alike. The night market features clothing, accessories stalls and Bangkok’s most delicious and unique street food. JODD FAIRS recently opened a new branch at Dan Neramit, a formal theme park, which is even bigger than the original. According to TimeOut Thailand, the lease of the original Jodd Fairs location will expire by the end of 2023, so if you are planning to go there at the end of the year, you might consider visiting the new branch instead.

Ordered dishes at Rongros. Please remember to make early reservations.

During my recent trip to Bangkok, I had the pleasure of dining at two exceptional restaurants: Rongros and Pad Thai Fai Ta Lu located on Dinsor Road. Both establishments left a lasting impression with their delectable dishes and delightful ambiance.

Address: 392/16 Maha Rat Road, Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Bangkok, 10200, Thailand

Rongros, meaning ‘House of Flavours,’ preserves the taste of traditional Thai cuisine on the banks of the Chao Phraya River with a stunning view of Wat Arun and is a hidden gem that offers an unforgettable dining experience. As I stepped into the restaurant, I was immediately drawn to its warm and inviting atmosphere. The rustic decor and cozy seating created a charming setting for a memorable meal. I opted for their signature dish, the “Green Curry with Chicken served with roti” and many other dishes, and they exceeded all expectations. The attentive staff provided impeccable service, enhancing the overall dining experience at Rongros.

Address: 115/5 Dinso Road, Bowon Niwet, Bangkok, 10200, Thailand

Pad Thai Fai Ta Lu, nestled on Dinsor Road, is a renowned eatery known for its exceptional pad Thai. As a lover of this iconic Thai dish, I had high expectations, and I was not disappointed. The vibrant and bustling atmosphere added to the charm of the place. The open kitchen allowed me to witness the skillful chefs preparing the dishes with precision and care. I ordered the classic Pad Thai with prawns, and it was a symphony of flavors. The noodles were perfectly cooked, coated in a tantalizing balance of sweet, savory, and tangy flavors. The dish was generously garnished with fresh herbs and crushed peanuts, adding a delightful crunch. The service at Pad Thai Fai Ta Lu was prompt and friendly, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
